Warwick Town Council: Meetings, Road Signs on Tonight’s Agenda

WARWICK – The Warwick Town Council is scheduled to make multiple appointments and consider road signs at a number of locations during tonight’s meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Tonight’s agenda includes announcements for the following appointments:

  • David McGhie of 610A Buttonwoods Ave. as harbor master until March 1, 2026
  • Katie E. DeGoosh-DiMarzio, 258 Tennyson Road, and Alicia Nero, 17 Fir Glad Drive, to fill the city’s two vacant positions on the Pawtuxet River Authority board of directors, with Paul DePetrillo and Alisa Diaz Richardson in as vice-members, and the reappointment of Jennifer Ryan, 71 Community Road, until June 1, 2022. DeGoosh-DiMarzio and DePetrillo’s terms would run until June 1, 2024, while Nero and Diaz Richardson would be appointed until June 1, 2023.

The advisers will also review the nominations of Warwick Tourism Department Acting Director Elizabeth Dunton and Former Director Karen Jedson at Warwick Tourism Advisory Council, with John J. Goodman from RI airport company, Ryan Giviens from Homewood Suites by Marriott, and Bob Ayers of the MidTown Hotel. If approved, they would serve until August 1, 2022.

No parking order at second reading

[Credit: Google Maps; illustration by Joe Hutnak] Warwick City Council is due to hold a second reading on an ordinance to expand no-parking zones on streets highlighted in red.

Several “no parking” signs included in an ordinance proposed by the municipal councilor of district 9 Vincent gebhart are ready for a second reading this evening. If approved, the signs would be placed at:

  • Baycliff Avenue from Somerset Road to Beachwood Drive
  • Lakedell Drive between Beachwood Drive and Somerset Road
  • Rosedale Avenue
  • Sawyer Avenue north of Charlotte Drive
  • Robert Avenue
  • Hale Avenue
  • Charlotte Drive from Robert Avenue at the east end of Charlotte Drive
  • Charlotte Drive from Robert Avenue at the west end of Charlotte Drive

In a separate order that is also scheduled for a second hearing, Gebhart proposed a sign restricting parking and only allowing the loading and unloading of boats on Robert Avenue north of Charlotte Drive.

Councilors will hold subcommittee hearings starting at 5:00 p.m. prior to the plenary council meeting.
