Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu on Monday held an all-party councilors’ meeting to discuss the agenda for the next House meeting to be held at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan on Tuesday.
Advisors from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Lok Insaaf Party (LIP), BJP and Congress were present at the meeting.
This could be the last meeting of the House before imposing the model code of conduct for the upcoming state assembly elections. Opposition parties plan to raise various issues during the meeting, according to reports.
The committee is looking for a resolution for regular jobs.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the Sangarsh Municipal Employees Committee, led by its Chairman Ashwani Sahota and Chairman Jasdev Singh Sekhon, met with Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu about their demands today. Committee members asked the mayor to bring in a resolution at the MC’s house meeting to regularize the jobs of contract drivers, beldars and gardeners.
They further demanded that safai sewaks and contract sewer workers receive letters of appointment for regular jobs. The mayor assured that the letters of appointment would be issued to safai sewaks and sewer workers next week.
