The Department of Child Protection currently has multiple exciting opportunities to join the Adoption Services team as a Senior Social Worker!

Role details

We currently have several exciting opportunities to join the Adoption Services team as Senior Social Worker on a full-time fixed term until July 18, 2023 and March 10, 2023 and part-time fixed term until July 18, 2023.

In this role, you will undertake complex professional assessment, training and screening of prospective adoptive parents and those who are parties to adoption, working in partnership with government and non-government agencies and with clients.

You will work within the care team to ensure that children placed for adoption, whether born locally or overseas, are placed in a family that allows for their development, stability and safety.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and organized individual who knows and understands child development and the impact of trauma on child development and its potential impact on lifelong development. The successful candidate will have high-level assessment skills, including gathering and analyzing information, assessing risk factors, writing reports, and making appropriate recommendations for approval of intended parents. adoptive.

In this role, you will also have case work experience supporting families through the adoption journey, supporting the transition of children into their adoptive families, developing appropriate interventions that lead to positive outcomes for children and families.

Special conditions

Essential Qualities: A university level qualification in social work which qualifies for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Individuals of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not possess the Essential Qualification, may apply and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be eligible to apply for any allied health professional functions requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Directorate of Child Protection (DCP).
