Oakland– California Apprenticeship Council President Christopher Christophersen Sr. has called a special California Apprenticeship Council meeting to discuss pending litigation under government code § 11125.4. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 22 at 4 p.m. Ongoing disputes to be discussed include:

  • Association of Construction Employers, et al. v. California Department of Industrial Relations, Labor Standards Enforcement Division; & California Apprenticeship Council, Sacramento County Superior Court Case # 34-2021-80003714
  • The Laborers Training and Retraining Trust of Southern California, et al. v. California Department of Industrial Relations, Labor Standards Enforcement Division; California Apprenticeship Council, Sacramento Superior Court Case No. 34-2021-80003715

The California Apprenticeship Council, established by the Shelley-Maloney Apprentice Labor Standards Act of 1939, holds a public quarterly meeting to conduct apprenticeship activities in California and fulfill its statutory responsibilities: to provide policy advice on labor matters. apprenticeship for the building and construction trades and for the firefighter professions to the director of the Department of Industrial Relations, issuing rules and regulations on specific learning topics to be published in the California Code of Regulations and in conducting appeal hearings.

The Apprenticeship Standards division of the Department of Industrial Relations creates opportunities for Californians to acquire lifelong employable skills and provides employers with a highly skilled and experienced workforce while strengthening California’s economy.
